This Teacher’s Guide provides teachers with three units that examine the question “Journeys of Transformation” using traditional First Nations stories in order to teach students about traditional values and laws, as well as Canadian law. The units should be done in order as concepts and stories previously introduced are often reviews in later units. Each unit has an overview that explains the major focus of the lessons, along with the goals of the unit and additional information required for teaching it. In these lessons, students explore the basis of Aboriginal rights and use this information for two mock trials that are related to the issues of hunting and fishing as Aboriginal rights. Courtwatching is also recommended. Extension activities are provided.
