Debating the Responsibility to Vote

This Lesson Plan provides teachers with two activities that allow students to examine and debate whether we, as citizens, have a responsibility to vote. Students will engage in analyzing data, working collaboratively with others, group discussion, and justifying a position through an oral debate and writing a paragraph. Student debate performances and paragraphs will be assessed. An extension activity is provided involving researching the idea of making voting compulsory.
