Legal Independence - It's Your Right: Lesson Plan

This Lesson Plan provides teachers with six activities, an optional test, and optional enrichment activities that go along with the Legal Independence: It’s Your Right video and teaching resource. The vignette is based on a fictitious case of three students being arrested under a new law. The case illustrates principles that underlie our system of justice. Students will be asked to consider three issues that are at the very core of our justice system: the rule of law, judicial independence and lawyer independence. This Lesson Plan can be completed in one 60-minute block or it can extend over multiple blocks.
